What are the Benefits of Meditation?

I use meditation when I am revisiting one of the keys of the Tarot, to help imprint the messages deeper in to my mind. Today I have studied Key 17, The Star and it’s related Tarot meanings. The Hebrew letter Tzaddi corresponds to the fish hook, which is quite relevant as by meditating on something we are effectively ‘fishing’ for details that we are as yet unaware of.

In today’s overworked, overstressed and high anxiety world, the benefits of meditation are more valuable than ever, and can be applied to almost anything. If you’re keen on gaining mental clarity, controlling your emotions better and focusing on your life goals, meditation can be one of the most vital tools that you have. What many people don’t realize is that meditation is  not only excellent for your mental health but for your physical health as well.
For example, meditation has been shown to boost immunity and people who are recovering from cancer. The findings of the study conducted at Ohio State University showed that, when practiced daily, meditation actually reduced the risk that breast cancer would recur. Another study showed that, after a month of intense meditation practices, natural killer cells were boosted in elderly patients, something that can give them a much higher resistance to viruses and tumors.
Meditation has been  used to maintain emotional balance for eons. Indeed, many have used it to cure emotional states that were unhealthy and even neurotic. When a person can cleanse the consciousness of negative emotions it increases their true freedom immensely and balances their life like never before. The esteemed British medical Journal conducted studies also and found that, when trained how to meditate, patients showed blood pressure that was significantly lower.
Inflammation is at the root of problems like heart disease, asthma, skin conditions like psoriasis and arthritis. What’s one of the main causes of inflammation? Why it’s stress, something that meditation can help to lower. Using meditation, a person can switch off nurse dress response and reduce inflammation, something that will go far towards helping the many different types of health problems  that it causes.
One of the main benefits of meditation is that it can give a person access to true calmness. For many people, when an upsetting thought occurs it is the trigger for upsetting actions and emotions. For people who are practiced in the art of meditation, there is no such thing as upsetting thoughts, there are only thoughts. The person who meditates will find mental tranquility that can be a life changer.
As you can see, meditation is truly powerful. Using medication you can not only get a calm, emotionally balanced life but you can also tack a number of years onto your lifespan.
