This card embodies so many things that have shaped my life. I have faced the grim reaper several times in my life, and been present when he took friends of mine on to the next stage of their journey. Scorpio is a challenging & confusing sign, my mother, several lovers & close friends are Scorpios. They have a fascinating duality, love gossip & are generally secretive, if crossed they can bear a grudge for life & yes they do have a sting in their tail !. As for Scorpions, my house when I lived in Turkey had an infestation of Scorpions & I was terrified, thankfully my trusty cats dispatched of them before I became victim to their sting.
Death & the Devil
People are understandably fascinated by the darker cards of the Tarot arcana, so much so that I set up a page to direct people to : Death, the Devil & the scary Tarot cards. They represent challenging aspects of our personality & life challenges that we all must face, and no drawing the Death card doesn’t mean that you will leave your Tarot reading & walk under a bus !. The Death card usually indicates the ending of a challenging situation that allows a more productive, inspiring period to blossom.
Scorpio
Scorpio, the Scorpion (October 24 to November 22), one of the most energetic and powerful signs in the Zodiac. This is an exciting and magnetic personality, very passionate and emotional. They are forceful personalities and can easily be destined for leadership roles. Consider some of the complex famous characters are Scorpios: Hillary Clinton, Pablo Picasso, Dylan Thomas, both Simon AND Garfunkel are Scorpios. Others include the poet Sylvia Plath and Marie Curie. Marie Antoinette was a Scorpio as well.
Scorpios have a better chance of having genius-level IQs than most of the population; they are intense, critical and analytical. They tend to rebel against all conventions and can be political extremists.
The best love match for a Scorpio is Capricorn; they understand each other on a profound spiritual, almost psychic level. Scorpios give their hearts completely and passionately.
Being so gifted, they can find satisfaction in many employments. Their inner intensity can result in the ice-cold self-control and detachment of the surgeon, the concentration of the research scientist, and the heroism of the soldier. Any profession in which analysis, investigation, research, dealing with practicalities, and the solving of mysteries are relevant, can appeal to them. So police and detective work, espionage and counterespionage, the law, physics or psychology may attract them, and they can become masters of the written and spoken word. They may be most persuasive orators and find success as diplomats or preachers and, if they make the Church their profession, their inner intensity can express itself in the spiritual fervour of the mystic.
There is no Age of Scorpio in the astrologers Great Year, because that will be some time in the future. What will characterise that era, we wonder? Will mankind survive that long.
The Scorpio personality
Scorpio is one of the most complex of all the signs.
Scorpio has been known as the Mystic and the Investigator, and the Eagle and the Phoenix have both been associated with this sign. Scorpios are driven to learn about people, and have an innate ability to see what others can’t. They are intuitive, passionate, and exciting. They hate shallow relationships or being taken advantage of, and they are persistent, determined, and focused.
Scorpio has ego. He knows himself, insults do not phase him. Outwardly, he’s calm, focused, serene, but inside, he’s boiling. It’s very difficult to read a Scorpio’s mood by the look on his face, because he has a natural ability to keep the reactions small. He has ambition, but it’s impossible to tell his goals because they won’t be obvious. With the ambition, he has the focus and drive to accomplish anything he wants, and when he succeeds, it will seem like it was natural, meant to be, rather than by his will.
More US Presidents have been Scorpio than any other sign.
Don’t ask a Scorpion for advice unless you really want it. You won’t get false compliments or empty reassurances, you’ll get the cold hard truth.
Scorpio is intensely loyal, and never forgets a favour. On the other hand, he never forgets being wronged, either. Hurting a Scorpio is like planting the seeds for your own destruction, because they won’t be satisfied with simply evening the score–he’ll have to outdo the offender. This is the weakness of the Scorpio–jealousy, resentment, vindictiveness, and obsessiveness are very easy for him to fall victim to.
Scorpio has always been associated with dark things, which is only natural considering their rule by dark, distant Pluto. But there is a need for someone to show us what is hidden in dark corners of the world and the soul, and Scorpio is the one to do that.
