When I pull the Queen of Cups I think of the Queen of the suit of emotion — her cup the only closed vessel in the entire suit. She is conscious of her feelings, deeply so, but prefers to keep them hidden until she is certain of her audience. I wrote this card from Elounda, a glorious mystical lagoon in Crete, its calm waters said to be the site of a sunken city, a playground for mermaids. There is something about her energy that belongs to ancient water.
