Leo Horoscope, July 2026

Paul O'Mara · 23 June 2026

July is a turning point for Leo, and it is not a subtle one. Jupiter crossed into your sign on the 30th of June and will stay for thirteen months. The Sun enters Leo on the 22nd of July. And the Aquarius full moon on the 29th falls directly opposite your 1st house, with Jupiter conjunct the Sun at the exact same degree. This is the month Leo steps into a chapter of genuine expansion. The question is whether you are ready to receive it rather than perform it.

The first three weeks of July still have Mercury retrograde in Cancer, sitting in your 12th house. The 12th house is the most private territory in your chart. Hidden things, unconscious patterns, what you process in the quiet before sleep. Mercury retrograde there is asking you to reread something internal before Jupiter’s Leo chapter begins in full. There is something you have been telling yourself that needs correcting before you step forward.

Jupiter in Your 1st House

Jupiter in Leo in your 1st house for thirteen months is a rare and significant transit. The 1st house is the self, the body, the personal presentation, the energy you walk into a room with. Jupiter here expands all of it. You will feel more yourself, more visible, more willing to take up the space your actual presence deserves. People will receive you differently. Opportunities will arrive through the sheer quality of your presence rather than through effortful positioning.

The risk with Jupiter in the 1st is overreach. More is available, so the temptation is to take more than is wise. Watch the tendency toward excess in the body, in spending, in the scope of what you commit to. Jupiter in the 1st can expand in all directions simultaneously if you are not deliberate. Expand deliberately.

Mercury Retrograde in Your 12th House

Mercury retrograde in Cancer through your 12th house until the 23rd is not a dramatic placement, but it is an important one. The 12th house rules what is below the surface, what you process privately, what you are not yet ready to say aloud. Mercury retrograde there is asking you to sit with something rather than speak it.

Pay attention to what comes up in dreams, in quiet moments, in the half-thoughts you have in the bath and then lose. There is information being processed in the 12th that will surface properly once Mercury turns direct on the 23rd. Do not try to force it into language before then.

The 14th: Cancer New Moon in Your 12th House

The new moon on the 14th at twenty-two degrees of Cancer lands in your 12th house, with Mercury retrograde at twenty degrees sitting just two degrees away. A new moon in the 12th is the most private seed you can plant. It is an intention you do not tell anyone. A piece of inner work, a spiritual practice, a creative project that is entirely yours for now, a decision about something you are ready to let go of.

Plant it carefully. The 12th house new moon is the seed that surfaces a year later, often in a way you did not expect. It is worth being precise about what you are asking for.

The 22nd: Sun Enters Leo

The Sun crosses into Leo on the 22nd of July, beginning your solar return season. This is the moment the chart shifts from the private Cancer territory to your own sign. With Jupiter already in your 1st house, the solar return this year has more behind it than most. Your birthday season opens a chapter of genuine personal expansion. Let it be felt rather than immediately announced.

The 29th: Aquarius Full Moon Opposite Jupiter in Your 1st House

The Buck Moon on the 29th at six degrees of Aquarius lands in your 7th house of partnerships and significant one-to-one relationships. Jupiter sits conjunct the Sun in Leo in your 1st house, directly opposing this full moon. The personal self in full Leo expansion, facing the partner or the significant other across the chart.

Something in a close partnership comes into full clarity at the end of the month. A relationship that has been quiet about something speaks. A dynamic that has been a background presence becomes the foreground. With Jupiter amplifying your side of the axis, what this full moon reveals about partnership will be seen through the lens of who you are becoming, not who you have been. That is an important distinction. See it clearly.

The Move July Is Asking

Let the 12th house work happen in the first three weeks. The quiet processing that Mercury retrograde is doing in the private sector of your chart is the preparation Jupiter in Leo needs. You cannot expand from a foundation you have not checked. Check it in July. The Leo chapter that opens from the 22nd onwards has more room in it than any Leo has had for twelve years. Use the first half of the month to be ready for it.
