The Ring of Fire
Aquarius carries the myth of Ganymede, the young man swept up by Zeus in the shape of an eagle and carried to Olympus to pour water for the gods forever, mortal hands set to immortal work. An odd fate for the sign of rebels and visionaries: serving something larger than yourself, whether you asked to or not. That is what arrives on the 6th of February, at fifty-six minutes past three in the afternoon UTC: an annular solar eclipse at seventeen degrees of Aquarius, the Moon passing dead-centre across the Sun without quite covering it, leaving a blazing ring of fire around a dark centre for those standing in its narrow path across the South Pacific and South America. This New Moon also lands on Chinese New Year, the first day of the Year of the Fire Horse. Solar eclipses don't ease you into anything. What starts here tends to arrive abruptly, and prove hard to reverse.
